HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- MSOE (8-12, 4-0 NACC) fell behind WLC (6-15, 1-7 NACC) after an RBI single put the Warriors up 2-0 after two innings of play. With the bases loaded in the third inning, Jayda Nelson would put the Raiders on the board with an RBI single that brought Reese Konczal around to score. In the next at-bat, Alyssa Jacobson crushed a ball to dead center field for a grand slam, as the Raiders led the Warriors 5-3 after three innings.
- Another RBI single from Nelson in the fourth inning would give the Red and White a little insurance, but WLC would score two of their own in the bottom of the frame, cutting the MSOE lead to a single run at 6-5. Konczal would tally an RBI on a base hit in the fifth inning that allowed Carlee Emery to score, as that run would prove to be the difference maker as the Raiders held on to win game one by a score of 7-6.
- Game Two
- In game two it was the Raiders that would strike first on RBI singles from Jacobson and Emery in the first inning, but the Warriors would knot the game up at two by the end of the frame. Jacobson and Emery would each bring a run in their second time at the dish, with Jacobson dropping a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed Jenna O'Donnell to score, while a double off the bat of Emery brought Nelson across.
- The Warriors would rally in the third inning, posting five runs on six hits with no errors by the Raiders. With WLC up 7-4, it was once again the combination of Jacobson and Emery, hitting back-to-back home runs to bring the Raiders within a run. On the mound, the Raiders would turn to freshman Marissa Collazo who put in four innings of scoreless work, allowing just two hits and no walks. In the seventh, a single from Katie Pollock brought the pinch-running Brynn Kerber around to score, followed up immediately by a double from Olivia Beals to give MSOE the lead at 8-7, their first lead since the top of the third inning. The Warriors would try to play small ball in the bottom of the inning but a double play from the Raiders closed the door on WLC as they open conference play with back-to-back sweeps.
