HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (7-5, 5-2 NACC) and Marian (2-8, 1-6 NACC) were deadlocked at a goal apiece through most of the first quarter, until Tom Farren broke the tie with just under four minutes to play in quarter. The Raiders dominated the second quarter of play with five unanswered goals against the Sabres, as Josh Scheibel scored just 26 seconds into the second frame to kick of the run. Dawson Smith and Scheibel would go back-and-forth adding goals for the Raiders, and after a Soren Savard goal with just over 90 seconds to go in the first half, MSOE led 7-1 at the break.
- In the second half, Scheibel would secure a hat trick at the 9:11 mark of the third quarter, as the Raiders began to slip into cruise control and run away with the game. Case Roberts would add a man-up goal, the first of his three, before the third quarter came to an end with the Red and White ahead 10-2 with fifteen minutes left to play. MSOE would tag the Sabres for five more goals in the fourth quarter, as Jack Civottolo, Graden Jansen and Sean Logan put goals on the board, while the Raider defense held the Sabres to just four goals on twelve shots.
