HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dominican (1-7, 0-1 NACC) came out of the gates firing, kicking off the match on an 8-1 run before MSOE (3-9, 1-0 NACC) could find some momentum as Gillian McDaniel helped knock in a few kills and back-to-back kills from Katie Moser gave the Raiders a 16-15 lead. The Raiders then took a 22-19 lead after a kill from Rylee Hull before the Stars closed on a 6-1 run to steal the first set 25-23.
- After trading points to begin the second set, the Raiders began to put massive heat on the Stars, going on an 8-0 run with two aces from Natalie Martinez to lead 9-1. A few points later, the Raiders continued to put their foot on the gas, exploding to a 14-1 run to get all the way to set point. The Stars fought back to get five straight before a service error ended it to win 25-9 to tie up the match at a set a piece.
- The Stars regrouped and took a 10-4 lead to begin the third set but didn't phase the Raiders one bit. An 8-0 run with back-to-back aces from Ashley Murphy midway through gave the Red & White a 12-10 before the two traded volleys back and forth. The service line continued to be lethal for the Raiders as four more were tallied throughout a 10-1 run, capped off by one from Martinez to take the third set 25-16.
- After Ana Knutson nailed three kills early in the fourth set, the Raiders sat in the drivers seat and didn't look back in the fourth set. Katie Taticek started to catch fire, racking up four kills and an ace in a long run to take a 22-8 before Murphy and Moser finished off the job with kills of their own to seal the match 25-11.
