KENOSHA, Wis. – The MSOE men's volleyball dropped their first match of the season Tuesday night, traveling down to fall in three sets to #2 Carthage College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (1-1, 0-0 NACC) was able to match Carthage (3-0, 0-0 CCIW) to open the match before the Firebirds marched out to a 14-7 advantage. Filip Topor kickstarted a 5-0 run to cut the deficit 15-13 but after a 19-16 score, the Firebirds closed on a 6-2 run to take the opening set 25-18.
- The Firebirds used that late set momentum to gain control early in the second, leading 11-4. A 3-0 run capped by a Topor and Parker Rings teaming up for the block cut it down to a four point deficit, but the Firebirds extended right back to a 14-7 set. The Firebirds would once again have a massive close, making a 7-1 run to take the second set 25-14.
- The Raiders regrouped mightly to open the third set as Gregory Kubon led a 3-0 run with a kill and block to lead 7-6. The Firebirds immediately went on a 4-0 run right afterwards to make it 10-7 as Callan Harris and Seth Thomas were able to knock in kills to keep it with two. The Firebirds then slowly built up their lead until it became too large to overcome, winning 25-17.
