HOW IT HAPPENED
- Thomas started early as he made two kills along with an ace to put MSOE (2-2, 0-0 NACC) up 6-3 early. Stevens Point (3-3) went on an 8-2 run immediately after to lead 11-8 as the two sides continued to trade mini runs. After the Raiders got it to set point with Thomas knocking in another kill, the Pointer closed on a 4-0 run to take the set 26-24. The Pointers grabbed the early lead on a 4-2 run, holding the small advantage throughout the remainder of the set. Getting as close as 23-22 late, the Pointers trickled off the final two points to take it 25-22.
- The Pointers looked to run away middle of the third as they went on a 5-1 run to lead 17-12. The Raiders didn't shy away as they mustered up a 6-0 run of their own as Ryan Huff kicked it off with a kill and added in an ace to lead 18-17. After Thomas took it to set point once again, the Pointers were able to tie the set at 24 all, but Huff answered the bell, making back-to-back kills to take the set 26-24 to keep the match going.
- The Raider offense found themselves clicking in the fourth set, hitting .433, with Hunter Carroll leading the charge making four kills to lead 12-9 midway through. Carroll gave the Raiders their largest lead of the match when he made a kill to make it 20-14 as Bram Griever made kills back-to-back to cap off the set 25-19 to force a fifth. The Pointers and serving from Thomas gifted the Raiders early in set five, giving them an 8-6 at the midway switch. Carroll and Thomas teamed up to each grab a pair of kills to get to match point and after the Pointers made it interesting cutting the deficit, Huff put the final nail in the coffin to finish off the reverse sweep.
