MILWAUKEE – In a top-20 matchup, the #19 MSOE men's volleyball team took #4 California Lutheran University to the wire, nearly ending the comeback to fall short in five sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With four lead changes to open the match, Cal Lutheran (13-2) gained the momentum with a 7-0 run to lead 23-17. Seth Thomas trickled in a pair of kills to keep the set going until a service error from him to end it, giving the Kingsmen the win 25-19. MSOE (7-5, 0-0 NACC) gathered some momentum midway through set two as Callan Harris made a pair of kills and an ace on a 6-1 run to lead 15-12. After the Kingsmen tied it at 15, the Raiders began to roll on a 7-1 run to lead 22-16, eventually grabbing the set win 25-18.
- After grabbing an early advantage, the Kingsmen went on a 7-1 run to lead 16-9 that cut down to a three-point lead when Harris and Hunter Carroll teamed up for the block. The Kingsmen didn't let that stop them, taking the set 25-19. Thomas kicked off set four with a kill to begin a 4-0 run, eventually building that lead to seven when Gregory Kubon aced a serve to lead 19-12. Kubon and Harris teamed up for a pair of kills on a 6-2 run with Carroll having the final say, winning set four 25-16.
- Opening set five leading 3-1, the Kingsmen came immediately back to take a 7-4 lead. Kubon and Matthew Schultz would join forces on a block to tie at seven, eventually taking the lead back at 9-8. After two kills from the Kingsmen to take the lead, they wouldn't look back to win 15-13.
