Softball Splits with UW-Stevens Point

RHINELANDER, Wis. – The MSOE softball team finished their short stint in Rhinelander on Friday afternoon, as the Raiders took on UW-Stevens Point.  The Red and White would shutout the Pointers in game one of the doubleheader, but would be toppled in game two on the way to a split.

RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
UW-Stevens Point - 0

UW-Stevens Point - 14
MSOE RAIDERS - 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • MSOE (1-3) and UW-Stevens Point (4-2) were scoreless after the first two innings, with the Red and White breaking through in the top of the third.  After Reese Konczal, Brynn Kerber and Emma Smith all reached to lead off the inning, Autumn Sadler drove a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Konczal to tag up and give MSOE a 1-0 lead.  With the bases loaded, Lylah DeArmond drove a double down the line just two batters later, pushing the MSOE lead to 3-0.
    • From there it was all MSOE, as Katie Pollock finished with six strikeouts as the Raiders shut out the Pointers in game one of the doubleheader.  UW-Stevens point would threaten in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded, but the Pointers would fly out to Carlee Emery in right field to wrap up the win for the Raiders.
  • Game Two
    • In game two, the Pointers quickly jumped out to a five-run lead in the first inning after three hits from UW-Stevens Point and an error from the Raiders. The Red and White would allow three more runs in the third and one in the fourth before finally getting on the board after a Pollock single scored Rikka Ludvigson.
    • With the Pointers threatening to shorten the game after a 9-1 lead heading to the fifth inning, UW-Stevens Point tagged the Raiders for five more runs on the way to a lopsided 14-1 loss for MSOE.

WHO'S ON DECK
