#16 MSOE RAIDERS – 3

Marian - 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Neither defense could stop each other's offenses and rallies were traded up to 8-8 when MSOE (13-5, 6-0 NACC) began a 7-2 run to lead 14-10. Marian (4-14, 0-6 NACC) cut it back down to a one-point game at 17-16 and continued to close the gap two more times before the Raiders got to set point with kills from Seth Thomas and Callan Harris. After a few more trickled in for the Sabres, Gregory Kubon finished things off with a kill to win 25-22.
  • The miscues from the Sabres began to be a major factor to open the second set to put the Raiders ahead 6-2 after a team-up block from Thomas and Konrad Swierczek. The Raiders catapulted their lead to 11-5 after a kill from Swierczek before the Sabres tied up the set at 16. The Sabres would take a 20-19 advantage but it wouldn't last long as just two rallies later Harris snagged the lead back 21-20. Kubon would connect on a kill and ace to reach set point with Thomas finishing the job with a kill to win 25-23.
  • The Sabres wouldn't go away easily in set three after using a 5-1 run to lead 9-8 early. The Sabres held the advantage throughout the remainder of the set until Thomas connected twice on kill with Harris adding one himself to tie the set at 23. Trading the next two to push it past the 25-point mark, the Sabres finished things to force a fourth set 26-24. The Raiders began to runaway with the fourth set early, opening on 10-3 run with Harris knocking in three kills. After the Sabres it down to a four-point difference, the Raiders went full pedal to the medal on a 10-2 run, capped by back-to-back aces from Kubon to lead 21-9 before completely ending it 25-11.
