Women's Basketball Fades in Loss at Concordia Wisconsin

MEQUON, Wisconsin – The MSOE women's basketball team was outscored 20-6 in the fourth quarter in falling to Concordia Wisconsin 56-44 Wednesday evening at R. John Buuck Field House.

The Raiders (7-10, 4-8 NACC) led by two points heading into the fourth quarter when the Falcons (14-3, 12-2 NACC) took over in the final period.

Senior Holly Denfeld posted her 12th double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Jamie Spanbauer also reached double-digits with 10 points, senior Margaret Pugh added eight points and sophomore Brooke Scott seven.

Taylor DeLong scored a game-high 16 points off the bench for Concordia Wisconsin. Baylee Barker scored 13 points and Samantha Blissett had 11.

MSOE led 38-36 after three quarters, but CUW opened the quarter on a 15-2 run to open an 11-point into the final minute of regulation. The Raiders offense went cold in the period, shooting just 2-for-13, while the Falcons made 6-of-11field goals and went 7-of-8 free throws to pull away.

The Red & White shot 34.7 percent for the game, including a 3-for-13 clip from three-point range. Concordia Wisconsin shot marginally better at 36.7 percent and was just 1-of-6 from beyond the arc. MSOE held a 40-33 rebounding advantage, but conceded an 18-7 turnover ratio to the home team.

The Raiders return to the court Saturday, hosting Rockford at 2 p.m.
