Box Score MILWAUKEE – The MSOE hockey team led No. 3 Adrian 3-1 midway through the second period, but could not hold on in a 5-3 loss Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (1-1, 1-1 NCHA) won Friday's contest 5-1 and led 3-2 entering the third period, but the Bulldogs (1-1, 1-1 NCHA) scored three times in the final frame to salvage a series split on the weekend.
Senior Kevin LoGiudice put MSOE ahead just 3:05 into the game off assists from sophomore Conner Enciso and junior Gage Christianson.
Then, after Adrian pulled level at 14:08 of the first period, the Raiders re-took the lead just 1:25 into the second period. This time, it was junior Brandon Unser lighting the lamp off assists from junior Cody Ganchar and sophomore Chris Hinrichs.
Sophomore Omar Mullan then made it 3-1 with a power play goal just under four minutes later. Christianson and sophomore Zach Simpson set up the goal.
The Bulldogs would pull within a goal on the first of two Kyle Brothers goals, this one coming at 10:07 of the second period. Brothers would then equalize with a power play goal 6:20 into the third period.
The winner came from Cory Dunn just over two minutes later and Trevor Boyd added an empty net goal in the final minute.
Adrian outshot MSOE 39-25 in the game, including by a 17-8 figure in the third period. The Raiders were able to kill off seven of the visitors' eight power plays, while capitalizing on 1-of-3 of their own in the game.
Senior Nick Kohn finished with 34 saves in goal, while Kevin Entmaa stopped 22 shots.
The Raiders return to the ice Friday, opening a home-and-home series with Concordia Wisconsin at 7:05 p.m. at the Kern Center.
