MILWAUKEE - Sophomore Mason Sauder won both his singles and doubles matches to lead the MSOE men's tennis team in a 5-4 loss to Carroll Saturday afternoon at the Moorland Tennis Center.
The Raiders (0-3) fell just short of the Pioneers (1-1), dropping their second-straight 5-4 decision.
MSOE split the singles matches, but Carroll took two of the three doubles points for the victories.
Sauder's singles win came in the No. 6 position, as he was pushed to a third set 7-5, 1-6, 10-4. He and sophomore David Gorodetsky teamed for an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Also in singles action, sophomores John Price and Tom Smith also scored victories. Price played at No. 4 singles and took home a 6-3, 6-4 win. Smith was in the No. 5 role and won 6-4, 6-2.
The Raiders' next try at their first win will come Feb. 14 when they host Dubuque and Ripon next Saturday.
