Box Score 2 AURORA, Ill. – Junior Tyler Doyle had three hits and had a hand in all four MSOE runs in the second game as the MSOE baseball was swept in a doubleheader by Aurora Monday afternoon at Solfisburg Park.
The Raiders (3-16, 1-3 NACC) fell in the first game 11-1 in eight innings and came up short against the Spartans (13-7, 3-1 NACC) in game two, 8-4.
Doyle went 3-for-5 with a double in the day's second game, scoring a pair of runs and driving in two more. Freshman Jimmy Carrington also had two hits, with a triple and two RBIs.
MSOE trailed 5-0 in the second game, when it got on the board with three runs in the fifth inning. After sophomore Eric Kremers walked and freshman Jason Burant doubled, Doyle plated the pair with a single to right field. Two batters later, Carrington made it 5-3 with a triple to right centerfield.
The home team pulled another run ahead with a single tally in the sixth inning, but the Raiders cancelled that out when Doyle doubled and Carrington followed with a single to make it 6-4.
Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Red & White would get in the game.
The Spartans started the day with runs in each of the first five innings to get out to an 8-1 lead. They then struck for three more runs in the eighth inning to end the game by run rule.
MSOE returns to the diamond Thursday with a single game at Carroll.
