Box Score MILWAUKEE – Freshmen Ryan Newman and Jimmy Carrington collected three hits apiece to lead the MSOE baseball team in action against Division I Milwaukee Tuesday afternoon at Henry Aaron Field.
The Raiders (9-29) capped their season with a 7-3 loss to the Panthers (29-16).
Sophomore Brandon McCumber got the start on the mound for MSOE, throwing three scoreless innings. He surrendered a pair of hits and a walk, while striking out one.
Milwaukee got on the board with a pair of runs in the fourth and tacked on three more in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead.
The Raiders pulled pair of runs back in the sixth inning. Freshman Josh Peltier was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and junior Tyler Doyle walked two batters later. Carrington followed with a single to plate Peltier. With runners at the corners two batters later, Doyle then stole home as a part of a two-out double steal.
The Panthers scored single runs in the seventh and eighth innings, while MSOE plated its third run in the top of the eighth. Newman led off the frame with a single and Carrington had an infield single two batters later. Newman then came around to score on an error.
Freshman Michael Boehmer (2-5) relieved McCumber on the mound, throwing two frames. Senior Josh Kundinger closed out the game with three innings and no earned runs allowed.
