JANESVILLE, Wis. – The MSOE men's tennis team split a pair of NACC matches Sunday in Janesville, falling to Edgewood 8-1 and sweeping past Marian 9-0.
The Raiders (5-10, 3-1 NACC) were led by junior Tyler Haanen, who won both his singles and doubles points against Marian and scored their lone point in singles play against Edgewood.
Haanen won at No. 5 singles against the Eagles, rebounding from a 6-3 loss in the opening set to win the next two frames 7-5, 10-5. He moved up to No. 4 vs. Marian and won 6-2, 6-2. In doubles play, he paired with junior Austin Campbell for an 8-1 win at No. 3.
Campbell won at No. 2 singles in the second match, winning 6-1, 6-2.
Junior Tom Smith jumped to No. 1 singles against Marian and won 6-2, 6-1. He played alongside junior John Price at No. 1 doubles and won 8-2.
Sophomore Austin Fite won both his singles and doubles matches, pairing with junior Mason Sauder for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. He was also victorious at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Rounding out MSOE's winners were sophomore Ryan Runke and sophomore Ben Gamerdinger. Runke nabbed a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles and Gamerdinger win 6-2, 6-2, at No. 6.
The Raiders return to action Wednesday, hosting Concordia Wisconsin at Lake Park.
