RIVER FOREST, Illinois – Eighth-ranked Concordia Chicago proved to be too much for the MSOE baseball team in a doubleheader sweep at Cougar Field.

The Raiders (13-14, 5-5 NACC) dropped game one 10-0 after a seven-run ninth inning removed all doubt in the outcome before the Cougars (18-7, 5-2 NACC) ran away with game two 13-1 in seven innings.

Senior Michael Boehmer (4-2) worked 8.1 innings in game one, allowing just three runs before the final inning. He scattered 12 hits over the first eight innings, allowing just one earned run in that span.

Meanwhile, the offense struggled to string hits together with its eight hits coming in seven different innings. Senior Garrett Willems and junior Nick Gross had two hits apiece.

Senior Ryan Newman went 4-for-4 in game two as the offense was limited to a run on seven hits. The Raiders lone run came in the fourth inning. Back-to-back one-out singles by Gross and freshman Justin Bickman put runners aboard and senior Owen Burnikel plated a run with a double to make it 4-1. Unfortunately, a double play with the next hitter ended the rally.

Meanwhile, the Cougars extended their league with a run in the fifth inning and eight runs over the sixth and seventh frames to bring the game to its abbreviated end.

Junior Sam Crawford (2-4) suffered the loss on the mound, allowing six earned runs over 5.0 innings with three strikeouts.

The Raiders return to the field Sunday, playing Edgewood in a doubleheader at UW-Whitewater.
