MILWAUKEE – The MSOE wrestling team won four matches in a dual match with UW-Oshkosh, falling 31-12 Thursday evening at Hotchkin Arena.

The Raiders (0-4) fell into an early hole when the Titans (6-5) scored the first 11 points of the night and were unable to rebound.

After a forfeit at 125 pounds and a technical fall at 133 pounds, the visitors jumped out to the early advantage. Sophomore Preston Makoutz got MSOE on the board at 141 pounds, outlasting his opponent with an 8-6 sudden victory. He rebounded from a last-second takedown, which forced extra time, to score a decisive takedown for the win.

Two matches later, junior Jack Rathburn picked up the team's second win of the night, grinding out a 5-3 victory at 157 pounds.

At 174 pounds, sophomore Drew Matticks won his 16th match of the season with a come-from-behind 7-4 decision. He trailed 3-1 before taking six-straight points to propel into the lead. He then held on for the win.

Sophomore Helton Vandenbush made it back-to-back wins to keep the Raiders in contention with a 5-1 decision at 184 pounds. He scored the first five points of the bout and was never really threatened in the victory. The win pulled MSOE within 21-12 with two matches remaining.

Unfortunately, the Titans secured the victory with a major decision victory at 197 pounds.
