Norton Posts Two Wins vs. Lawrence

GLENDALE, Wisconsin - Junior Curt Norton won matches in both singles and doubles play to lead the MSOE men's tennis team in its 6-3 loss at the hands of Lawrence Sunday afternoon at Elite Club River Glen.

The Raiders (0-3) fell in their home opener but played extremely close with the Vikings across the board.

Norton picked up his singles win in the No. 5 position, scoring a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the most lopsided match of the dual. He also prevailed in doubles action alongside sophomore Bryan Roob, 8-6, at No. 3.

Freshman Parker Kuhlman posted a comeback won at No. 6 singles in one of two three-set matches on the day. After dropping the opening set 6-1, he came back for a 6-1 win in the second set before holding off his opponent 10-8 in the third-set tie-breaker.

MSOE fell short in the other three-setter, coming at No. 2 singles while coming awfully close to claiming one or more additional doubles points. Both the No. 1 and No. 2 matches in the competition finished 8-7 in favor of LU.

The Raiders return to the court next Saturday at St. Norbert.
