KENOSHA, Wis. - One week after MSOE men's tennis fell to NCAA DI opponent Green Bay, the Raiders returned to the hard court against Carthage. While the results were less than desired once again, they were a factor in every match and fought until the end against the Red Men on Saturday afternoon in southeast Wisconsin.
Carthage (11-3, 0-0 CCIW) ended up sweeping the doubles matches, but MSOE (2-6, 0-0 NACC) came within one point of taking a win away. The teams of Curt Norton (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove)/Alec Dam (Caledonia, Wis./Union Grove) and Bryan Roob (Milwaukee, Wis./Martin Luther)/Connor Splingaire (Wauconda, Ill./Wauconda) were defeated by the scores of 1-8 and 3-8 respectively, but Luke Nelson (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) and David Chon (Palatine, Ill/Palatine) came as close as possible to being victorious against their counterparts. Unfortunately, they would fall 7-8, putting the Red Men up 3-0 after doubles play.
Several singles battles went the distance as well, with Dam falling 6-4, 2-6, 5-10 to Andre Antreassian and Nelson coming up short versus Tripp Schulte 5-7, 7-6, 8-10. The Raiders were only blanked in one match, with Norton falling in straight sets 0-6, 0-6. Wrapping up the rest of the duels, Chon (2-6, 2-6), Splingaire (1-6, 0-6), and Parker Kuhlman (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Academy) (4-6, 2-6) all fought hard but couldn't force a decisive third set.
Next up for the Red & White will be a two opponent match next weekend, taking on both Loras and Dubuque on Saturday, March 23rd.
