Rams Squeak By Raiders

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – MSOE men's tennis continued their busy March schedule Saturday afternoon when they traveled to take on Cornell College. It looked like the Raiders were going to secure their first win of the season but a tiebreak in the No. 1 singles spot handed the victory to the Rams in Iowa.

MATCH SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 4
Cornell – 5

HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (0-5, 0-0 NACC) got off to a good start, taking two out of the three doubles matches to begin the afternoon. The team of Josh Fay and Benjamin Steves defeated their opponents 8-0 while Connor Splingaire and Alex Nakasato gave up just a single set on their way to victory. Unfortunately, the Raiders were not able to take advantage. While Fay and Ryan Emerich came away with wins from the No. 5 and No. 6 singles slots, no one else was able to secure a W. Alec Dam came the closest in the top spot but lost the match that would have put the contest in the favor of the Red & White by the scores of 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8-10).

WHAT'S NEXT
The Raiders will once again be on the road next Saturday when they go up against Ripon. First serve is set for 10:00 am.
