Box Score 2 SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – The MSOE offense got off to a prolific start last year, scoring 99 runs and turning in a batting average of .378 in nine games before the season was shut down. The offense is expected to be just as powerful in 2021. Unfortunately, the Raiders did not get enough of it on Saturday afternoon, dropping two to Dominican to open up their long-anticipated season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game one featured a hard-fought dual between MSOE (0-2, 0-0 NACC North) and Dominican (2-4, 0-0 NACC South). Even though seven runs were scored between the two teams, there was only 11 hits allowed. The Stars opened up the ballgame by scoring one in the bottom of the first, right before the Raiders plated three in the top of the second. A Justin Bickman RBI triple got the Red & White started and Josh Beier would double in a run shortly after MSOE's second tally scored via error. Unfortunately, the Raiders offensive contributions stopped there. Dominican would go on to score one in the fifth and one in the ninth to tie the game before plating the winning run in the bottom of the tenth to take the first game of the afternoon.
MSOE scored four in the second ballgame, but never led in the contest. The Raiders put up crooked numbers in the top of the third and fifth while Dominican scored two in their portion of the very same frames. The Stars would score three in the bottom of the eighth after the Red & White tied the contest at 4-4 in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach and secure the doubleheader sweep for the home team.

WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders will be in action on Wednesday when they once again travel to Illinois, this time with their opponent being Concordia Chicago. Game one of the non-conference doubleheader is set for 1:00 pm.
