Aurora Takes Two From Raiders

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

AURORA, Ill. – Cold weather shortened Wednesday's doubleheader against Aurora to two seven inning games, with the Raiders hoping the chilly air would freeze the AU bats as well. Unfortunately, the Spartans offense was alive and well as they took both games from the Red & White in Illinois.

RESULTS
Game One (7-Innings)
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
#5 Aurora – 5

Game Two (7-Innings)
MSOE RAIDERS – 5
#5 Aurora – 6

HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (1-6, 0-0 NACC North) got off to a good start in game one, taking the first inning lead off of a Brandon Beauchamp home run. Unfortunately, there was not much offense to be had outside of that. No. 5 Aurora (13-0, 0-0 NACC South) grabbed the lead with two in the bottom of the second before adding three more in the very next inning. Spartans pitching only gave up four hits to the Raiders as they took home the victory in the opener.

Outside of a Spartans big inning during game two, the Raiders might have had a chance to deal Aurora their first loss of 2021. AU got the game started with one in the first, a run the Red & White would get back in the top of the second. It was the five run fourth inning for Aurora that did the Raiders in, but MSOE would not go quietly. The Raiders scored one in the fifth to cut the lead down to four runs and scored three in the top of the seventh to get within a single tally. However, a fly out to center ended the game with the tying run in scoring position as MSOE fell 6-5.
