Bats Power Raiders To Twin Bill Victory

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – MSOE baseball came into today's contest having dropped four of their last six ballgames and needed to right the ship in order to stay in the NACC North division title hunt. Two wins against Marian should do the trick. The Raiders offense was firing on all cylinders as they take both games against the Sabres on the road.

RESULTS
Game One
MSOE RAIDERS – 17
Marian – 11

Game Two
MSOE RAIDERS – 7
Marian – 3

HOW IT HAPPENED
The MSOE (12-12, 9-5 NACC North) bats were booming in game one, totaling 17 runs on 18 hits. Chris Barnes led the charge as the sophomore racked up seven RBIs. He recorded his first two in the top of the first when he singled to drive in Blake Hall and Nick Stricker, but the best was yet to come. An inside the park home run brought across two more in the fifth, a double in the eighth also brought in a pair, and a sac fly to right plated his seventh run batted in. Hall homered as well and while the pitching had some slight issues, they still struck out ten Marian (14-20, 9-5 NACC North) batters to lock down the six-run victory.

The backend of the twin bill featured less scoring but still a lot of production out of the Raiders. Each Red & White player that started the game recorded a hit with Hall leading the way with three. Jeffery Stanish was lights out in relief, going 2.1 innings and did not allow a run or hit en route to his second win of the season. MSOE scored one run in the fourth, fifth, sixth, and eighth while plating three insurance runs in the ninth to take the ballgame 7-3.

WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders and Sabres will go at it two more times tomorrow afternoon with the contests shifting to MSOE Raiders Stadium. First pitch for game three of the series is set for Noon.
