HOW IT HAPPENED
- vs. Wartburg
- Tyler Gronert continued his stellar play out on the mound from the 2021 campaign by pitching a gem for MSOE (2-1) in game one against Wartburg (1-2) to open up the 2022 season. The senior went all seven innings giving up just three hits and struck out six.
- All of the Raiders runs in the first game came in the fourth inning. Josh Beier doubled to start off the frame which was followed up a William Blank RBI single to score one. After Chris Barnes moved Blank over, Nathan Kennedy plated another run to give MSOE all the cushion that they would need.
- The bats came alive in game two with the Raiders tripling their run total from the previous seven innings. Brandon Beauchamp led the team with two RBIs and Joseph Teschke allowed just one run on one hit to pick up his first win of the season in a sweep of the Knights.
- vs. Concordia Moorhead
- Though the final score doesn't show it, the ballgame between the Red & White and Concordia Moorhead (1-1) was a pitcher's duel for most of the contest.
- Nolan Vincent pitched seven innings and scattered nine hits throughout to the Cobbers. Concordia was able to plate two runs in the bottom of the fifth off of three straight hits to add to their 1-0 lead to put the Raiders in a three-run hole.
- MSOE would get one back in the top of the eighth before the Cobbers added two more in the bottom half of the inning.
- The Raiders had a rally going in the top of the ninth and added their second run of the contest on a Nolan Wojciechowski single but that would be all that they could muster in their first loss of the year.
