HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- MSOE (11-12, 6-4 NACC) played right alongside one of the better teams in the nation against No. 18 Aurora (19-5, 9-1 NACC) in game one on Saturday. It was a pitchers' duel through and through and one that didn't see anyone score for the first five innings.
- The Spartans crossed home plate first in the bottom of the sixth before a Brandon Beauchamp homer tied the game up in the top half of the seventh.
- That tie didn't last long as the bottom half featured an Aurora homer and RBI single that gave AU the lead for good in a 3-1 victory.
- Game Two
- Things didn't get much better in game two. The Raiders started off with a run in the top of the first, but they were matched by the Spartans in the bottom half of that inning and only plated one other run throughout the rest of the contest.
- Tied a 1-1, Aurora proceeded to rattle off 11 runs between the third and eighth innings to enact the 10-run mercy rule and end the game before it could go the distance.
