HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- It was a pitchers' duel early on in game one between MSOE (10-9, 5-1 NACC) and Concordia Wisconsin (8-13, 2-4 NACC). Neither team was able to push anyone across home plate for the first four innings of the contest.
- The Raiders finally broke the stalemate when they scored four in the top of the fifth, however. Singles from Collin Truitt, Kyle Labedz, and Matthew Klement each plated at least one run, but the Red & White lead would be cut down to just one the next inning when the Falcons scored three of their own.
- MSOE responded in kind during the top of the seventh, however. Micah Overley homed to start the rally, which was followed by a Klement single, a triple from Cobey Alderden and another single from Luke Schraufnagel that registered RBIs to close out the scoring and gave the Raiders the 8-3 game one advantage.
- Chris Barnes picked up his first win of the season in six full innings and the pair of Joseph Teschke and Nolan Vincent gave up a combined two hits in relief during the MSOE victory.
- Game Two
- It was rapid fire offense for the Raiders in game two. The Red & White plated seven runs in the first five innings while Tyler Gronert kept the Falcons off the board until the bottom of the fifth.
- CUW tried to mount a comeback and scored four runs in the middle innings, but it wasn't enough in comparison to the MSOE offensive output. The Red & White added two more tallies to the scoreboard in the top of the eighth to seal the deal on the conference doubleheader sweep.
- Gronert went the distance in his second straight start and stayed perfect on the season at 5-0 during the Raiders 9-4 win
RAIDER REMARKS
- This was the first time the Raiders have swept a doubleheader from the Falcons since they accomplished the same feat back in May of 2018.
