MILWAUKEE – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) has announced the Academic All-District teams for the 2024-25 cross country and track & field season, with nine members of the MSOE track & field team earning honors.
To make the CSC Academic All-District Team student-athletes must have a 3.5 GPA or above in order to be nominated, while also ranking in the top-50 in the region.
Five members of the men's program earned honors, with
Kolby Dax,
Sam McPeak,
Evan Ploeckelman,
Adam Shaw, and
AJ Springer.
Dax ran a new personal best at the NACC Outdoor Championship in the 10,000-meter run, running 31:51.34 to earn all-conference honors with a third-place finish. Dax also earned all-conference honors during the cross country season, finishing sixth.
McPeak set a new school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, running 9:18.89 and was also the NACC champion. He also was an all-conference runner in cross country, finishing fourth.
Ploeckelman was the NACC Track Athlete of the Meet at the indoor conference championship, winning the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash in 6.89 and 22.39, respectively, while running a school record time 6.86 in the prelim.
Shaw was a two-time second team all-American during the track season, finishing 15
th in the mile prelim at the indoor championships and finishing eleventh in the 1,500-meter final in the outdoor season. He also was a two-time conference champion, three additional all-conference finishes, and three school records.
Springer qualified for the indoor national championship in the 800-meter run, finishing 19
th in the prelim. Springer set a school record in the event, running 1:52.76, and won the event at the conference championship in 1:56.19.
Four members of the women's program earned honors, with
Jessa Alderman,
Sabryn Bley,
Josephine Jacklin, and
Ava Larson.
Alderman qualified for her second career indoor national championship in the shot put, finishing 18
th overall in the prelim. She also set three school records enroute to conference titles and two more all-conference finishes.
Bley finished all-conference in the outdoor season, finishing second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:58.01. She also set new personal bests in the outdoor 5,000-meter run (19:49.10) and in cross country for 6,000-meters in 24:47.6 at the conference championship to finish 20
th.
Jacklin set personal bests in the shot put, hammer throw, and discus during the outdoor season, helping claim two all-conference finishes. She also set a new personal best in the weight throw during the indoor season and also won the shot put at the Windy City Rumble on February 1
st.
Larson was a stable in the weight throw during indoor season for the Red & White, finishing third at the conference championship with a toss of 15.00 meters. During the outdoor season, she finished third in the hammer throw at the conference championship with a toss of 44.30 meters.
Alderman, McPeak, Ploeckelman, Shaw, and Springer are all finalist for Academic All-American honors, which the women will be announced on July 15
th and the men on July 16
th.
