MILWAUKEE - Throughout the month of July, Raider Athletics will look back on the Top 10 moments of the 2024-25 season. Coming in at #3 is the men's distance program shinning during on both conference and national stage throughout the season.
Starting off in the fall, the cross country team dominated all season long, winning the conference championship with a staggering 21 points, clearing the field by 56 points in one of the largest margins in conference history. The Raiders totaled eleven all-conference finishers, highlighted by
Xander Gottner winning the meet in a time of 25:00.0. Gottner two weeks later led the Raiders with a ninth-place finish in a school record time 24:43.3 at the NCAA North Regional to secure his ticket to the NCAA National Championship where he finished 43
rd overall, just a few places shy of All-American status.
In the winter, the Raiders broke school records in all four individual distance events, and won three conference titles. Both
Adam Shaw and
AJ Springer qualified for the NCAA Indoor National Championship, with Shaw finishing 15
th in the mile for second team all-american honors and Springer finishing 19
th in the 800-meter run, respectively.
During the outdoor season, Shaw continued to have records fall, breaking the school record in the 1,500-meter run, clocking 3:47.44 to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor National Championship. Finishing eleventh in the prelim, Shaw qualified for the final, where he once again finished eleventh to earn second team all-american honors again.
