Box Score MILWAUKEE - The MSOE women's basketball team was ready to get 2020 started, hoping to put the three-game losing streak that ended 2019 in the rear-view mirror. Unfortunately, the losing streak now sits at four as the Raiders made just 15 field goals in a 16-point loss to Lakeland on Saturday afternoon.
RESULTS
Lakeland – 57
MSOE - 41
HOW IT HAPPENED
The fans inside Hotchkin Arena saw a very competitive contest up until the fourth quarter in this afternoon's game. Lakeland (4-7, 4-2 NACC) set the tempo early with 17 points in the first frame but MSOE (4-7, 4-2 NACC) was not far behind with 12 of their own. The Raiders rallied in the second, outscoring the Muskies by three and cutting the LU lead to just two points heading into the intermission. The Red & White shot 50 percent in the third quarter but still fell behind based on the quantity of shots that their opponent took. Even though the Muskies missed ten shots in the third quarter, two of the six they made were three-point attempts. The Raiders on the other hand made only four all night and faced a hole they couldn't get out of in the last quarter of play. MSOE shot just 12.5 percent in the last ten minutes, allowing Lakeland to add to their lead in their 57-41 victory.
RAIDER REMARKS
- A big difference in the game came in the turnover category. The Muskies only coughed the ball up three times compared to the Raider's 13, in which Lakeland converted into 10 points.
