HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (0-1, 0-0 NACC) started off this evening's contest in a 3-0 hole after the first quarter and it would not be until Tanner Whipps scored his first of three goals that the Raiders would get onto the board and make it 4-1. Elmhurst (1-0, 0-0 CCIW) kept pace with the Raiders in the second however and still came away with an 8-4 halftime lead. The second half was a much lower scoring affair. Each squad added two goals to their total in the third before the Bluejays outscored the Red & White by one in the fourth. Even in the 12-7 loss, there were bright spots for the Raiders. One of those was in the faceoff circle where John Kubicki and Jerred Willhelm helped MSOE go 13-20. The Red & White also held the advantage in ground balls (32-26) and cleared their zone 15 out of their 23 attempts.
