HOW IT HAPPENED
It was goal for goal between MSOE (0-7, 0-0 NACC) and Dubuque (3-3) this afternoon at Oyen Field. The Spartans started the scoring in the first just two minutes into the quarter before Ethan Marasco tied things up just as the buzzer sounded to signal the end of the frame. The trading of goals continued in the second as Tanner Whipps contributed a pair to keep pace with the two Dubuque scored as well. Following the clear pattern, each team scored three in the third and we headed into the final quarter of the game all tied at 6-6. Unfortunately, it was a three-goal run in a span of two and a half minutes that did the Raiders in. Kyle Krueger scored to begin the stanza before the Spartans went on their run. Tanner Whipps scored his fourth and final goal of the game to put MSOE down by just a single tally with 15 seconds left on the clock, and a Dubuque penalty put the Raiders a man up, but they couldn't find the back of the net in the time remaining to fall by a single goal for the second straight game.
