HOW IT HAPPENED
- Saturday's game was a back-and-forth affair in the early stages between MSOE (9-2, 4-0 NACC) and Dubuque (6-7, 2-0 MLC). The Spartans found the scoreboard first before the Raiders scored two of their own.
- The seesaw contest would continue until Peter Ruschenberg scored to make it 4-3 with 3:59 left in the first quarter and gave the Red & White a lead that they would not relinquish the rest of the afternoon. MSOE scored five total goals in the first frame and outscored Dubuque 4-2 in the second to take a 9-5 advantage into halftime.
- The Spartans were able to cut the Raiders lead down to three entering the final 15 minutes of play but two straight strikes from Ruschenberg, with assists going to Liam Brown, sealed the deal on the Red & White's fifth win in a row.
