Box Score MILWAUKEE – MSOE men's lacrosse entered the last week of the regular season with a tough test this afternoon when they welcomed Benedictine to Viets Field. A late comeback allowed the Raiders to turn a three goal deficit into a 12-11 overtime victory on Saturday afternoon.
RESULT IN OVERTIME
Benedictine – 11
MSOE RAIDERS – 12
HOW IT HAPPENED
- This one was an instant classic. MSOE (11-2, 6-0 NACC) and Benedictine (8-6, 4-2 NACC) exchange three goals each in the first quarter and it looked like the Raiders were going to pull away in the second before the Eagles scored four unanswered to take an 8-6 lead into halftime.
- The offense slowed down and the defense picked up in the third. The Red & White held Benedictine to just two goals after the intermission but were only able to net one of their one, heading into the fourth down by three.
- Erik Nelson started the last period with a goal before Benedictine reestablished their lead with another strike with 6:05 left. It was then that the comeback started. Tanner Whipps made it 11-9 with 5:23 left, Peter Russchenberg cut the advantage down to one with 2:37 remaining, and Kyle Hedblom tied up the contest with just 1:25 left on the clock.
- Neither team scored in the time remaining during regulation, so the Raiders played in their first overtime game this season. It didn't last long. Liam Brown took a Jerred Willhelm pass right off the faceoff and ended the game after six seconds, giving the Raiders arguably the biggest win in program history.

- The win snapped a three-game losing streak to the Eagles
