Raiders Sweep Eagles To Begin Busy Week

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MADISON, Wis. – No. 16 MSOE softball entered the last week of the regular season with a massive slate in front of them. The Raiders started their ten games in seven day stretch with two wins over the Eagles of Edgewood on Tuesday afternoon in the state capital.

RESULTS
#16 MSOE RAIDERS – 9
Edgewood – 7

#16 MSOE RAIDERS – 12
Edgewood – 3

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Game One
    • The day did not get off to the most ideal of starts. No. 16 MSOE spotted Edgewood six runs in the bottom of the first inning, forcing them to climb out of a sizable hole with six frames remaining.
    • The comeback began in the top of the fourth. Three RBI singles from Lauren Stefanczyk, Celine Pacheco, and Kara McKenna pulled the Raiders within two runs before they took a 7-6 lead in the sixth with singles from McKenna, Grace Salaja, and Jenna Trewyn.
    • After the Eagles tied up the contest in the bottom half of the sixth, McKenna picked up another RBI with an additional run crossing the plate thanks to a throwing error from Edgewood's shortstop.
    • Kennedy Lehn went 6.1 innings in relief to get her 13th win of the season as the Red & White take game one 9-7.
  • Game Two
    • The back half of the twin bill went a little smoother for MSOE. The Raiders plated runs in the first, third, fourth, and fifth innings before they allowed their opponent to score in the bottom of the fifth.
    • The Red & White padded their 7-3 lead with five more in the seventh and kept Edgewood off the board in their last at-bats to win 12-3. The Raiders had RBIs from five players including Stefanczyk, Jenna O'Donnell, and Caitlyn Spreitzer who each had two or more.
    • Sarah Grossman got the win behind 4.1 innings of three run ball as the Raiders take home victories 19 and 20 of the 2022 season.
