MILWAUKEE – The NCAA has announced its list of qualifiers for the Indoor National Championship in Birmingham, Alabama on March 13
th & 14
th with four members of the MSOE track & field team qualifying.
Jessa Alderman will be making her third trip to the NCAA Indoor National Championship, qualifying in the shot put. Alderman shattered her record in the event back on February 7
th at the Red Hawk Invite, tossing 14.55 meters. Alderman is undefeated this season in the event, including winning the NACC championship, and sits second in the event nationally heading into the championship.
AJ Springer is now a back-to-back qualifier for the championships, qualifying in the 800-meter run. Springer set the mark at the Red Hawk Invite, clocking a time of 1:52.94, which after the conversion from flat track to banked puts him at 1:51.35. Springer has won the event three separate times this season, including the NACC Championship where he also won the mile to be named Co-Track Athlete of the Meet, sits 12
th in the event heading into the championship.
Josephine Jacklin qualified for her first NCAA Championship meet, joining Alderman in the shot put. Jacklin launched a new personal best and her mark that qualified her on February 14
th at the Dick Hendricks Invite, going 13.89 meters. Jacklin finished all-conference this season in the shot put two weeks later and is ranked 12
th this weekend.
Daniel Geerts also qualified for his first NCAA Championships, qualifying in the 60-meter hurdles. Geerts has broken the school record on multiple occasions this season, with the final one coming during the prelims at the NACC Indoor Championship where he finished in 8.10 seconds. Geerts has won the event on three meets this season and is seeded tied for 15
th at the championships.
Both Geerts and Springer will compete on Friday for the prelims for their events, Geerts at 1:45 p.m. and Springer at 4:00 p.m. Alderman and Jacklin will compete the following day at 2:00 p.m.
