MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's soccer team played tough down to the final horn, but fell just short in losing to Dominican 2-1 Tuesday evening at Viets Field.

With the loss, the Raiders (10-5-3, 6-4 NACC) will be the fifth seed in the NACC Tournament. They will go on the road to play at No. 4 Concordia Wisconsin Saturday.

MSOE was on the defensive most of the night, but some pointed attacks forward put the team on the verge of a second-half lead. Sophomore Logan Andryk tied the score on his league-leading 15th goal of the season in the 54th minute. He leapt on to a ball out of the midfield and touched it into space down the center of the field. He tracked down the ball and touched it into the goal from just inside the box, beating the crashing goal and an oncoming defender.

Then, in the 67th minute, the Raiders were awarded a penalty kick when sophomore Brock Shilling was taken down in the box. Unfortunately, Gabriel Gongora came up with a save for the Stars to keep the score level.

The decisive own goal game in the 75th minute and proved to be the game-winner.

The Raiders pushed forward in the closing seconds, but fell just shy of the equalizer. Junior Garrett Farin punted a ball out to midfield that the home team managed to pressure and push forward. The final play of the game came to a head in the box as Andryk broke free. DU then had a defender with a last-ditch slide tackle block Andryk's attempt over the endline with just three seconds on the clock.

Dominican held a commanding 19-6 shot advantage, but Farin and the defense were up to the challenge most of the night. He finished with six saves, including a pair of back-to-back point-blank stops late in the second half to keep his team in striking distance.

Gongora made two saves for the win, including that PK stop.
